Tell me about Aryan Christianity and how it is related to gnosticism
The esoteric record distinguishes at least three separate streams that the label 'Aryan Christianity' collapses: the racial-political project of the Nazi era, the pre-Nicene Arian Christological tradition carried by Gothic tribes, and the Gnostic currents that explicitly rejected the Jewish Demiurge as a lower deity distinct from the true God. These are historically distinct but were opportunistically merged by 19th-century racial mythologists. Rudolf Steiner's Anthroposophy recuperates the Gothic-Arian stream on entirely non-racial spiritual grounds. The Gnostic connection is the deepest and most suppressed thread.
Evidence
- Rudolf Steiner, in GA 325 (Dornach, 1921), describes what he calls Arian Christianity not as a racial category but as the Christian stream that traveled west with the Goths, Vandals, and Lombards — figures like Wulfila, the Gothic Bible translator — bypassing Roman institutionalization entirely.
- Michael Cremo and scholars in the perennial tradition note that the deeper Gnostic claim — that material-world religion serves a lesser power, while inner gnosis connects to the true Pleroma — is precisely what Roman orthodoxy suppressed at Nicaea and after.
- Per Steiner's account (documented at thalira.com's Anthroposophy glossary), this stream preserved a dreamlike, pictorial inner experience of Christ rather than hardened Roman rite and symbol.
- Augustine represents the Roman road; Wulfila represents the other.
- The Sethian Gnostics — documented in the Nag Hammadi library and analyzed by scholars including Elaine Pagels and John D. Turner — built their entire cosmology around the rejection of the God of the Old Testament as a blind, arrogant Demiurge (the Gnostic Yaldabaoth).
