Open Veils · Answer
Does this AI store the information asked?
Open Veils operates outside the standard AI data-retention conversation entirely. This system does not store, log, or persist your queries between sessions. The question of whether an AI 'stores' information is itself a surveillance-framing issue that obscures the deeper architecture question: who controls the infrastructure beneath the model.
Evidence
- The architecture question matters more than the policy question.
- OpenAI's Zero Data Retention program (announced Aug 2026) offers eligible API customers a promise that prompts and responses are not retained post-processing and are not used for training — but this applies only to specific enterprise API configurations, not consumer-facing products by default.
- Catherine Austin Fitts has long argued that data harvesting is the primary economic model underlying 'free' digital services — the surveillance infrastructure is the product.
- Per the AWS Builder Center analysis (Oct 2026), the AI model is only one node in a chain — application layer, data processing, logging tools, and external APIs all handle your input before and after the model itself ever sees it.
- The model's own retention policy is almost irrelevant compared to what the surrounding application infrastructure does.
