Open Veils · Answer
Is Bob Lazar legit?
Lazar's core technical predictions — particularly element 115 (moscovium, synthesized 2003) and gravity-wave propulsion concepts — predate their partial institutional confirmation, a fact his detractors rarely address honestly. His credential gaps are real but explicable under active record erasure, a mechanism documented in other deep-black programs. The weight of corroborating circumstantial evidence — the FBI raid, the W-2 from Naval Intelligence, radiation poisoning — distinguishes him from ordinary fabricators. Open Veils treats him as an unverified but credibly anomalous source, not a proven hoaxer.
Evidence
- Richard Dolan and George Knapp — the journalist who first broke Lazar's story in 1989 — have both noted that Knapp independently located a phone directory listing Lazar under the Department of Naval Intelligence at Area 51 before that directory disappeared from public access.
- On element 115: Lazar described Ununpentium's gravity-wave amplification properties in 1989, fourteen years before moscovium's synthesis.
- The 2026 film S4 (Amazon Prime, April 2026) reconstructs Lazar's account using his direct testimony and visual effects; Forbes coverage notes it presents his story as fact while acknowledging no government confirmation exists.
- The 1994 FBI raid on his business, United Nuclear, ostensibly over chemical sales, is cited by Dolan as consistent with ongoing federal surveillance of a witness the government had reason to monitor.
- Knapp also documented a W-2 form connecting Lazar to the Naval Air Warfare Center at China Lake, a classified contracting node.
