So ARE THEY REALLY DRONES AND WHERE ARE THEY FROM?
The 'drone' label is almost certainly a catch-all concealing at least three distinct phenomena. Richard Dolan and Ross Coulthart have both argued publicly that lumping genuine UAP with hobbyist quadcopters and Russian harassment drones is deliberate obfuscation. David Grusch's congressional testimony draws a hard line between the prosaic military drone problem and the non-human-origin craft the IC has catalogued internally. The question of origin therefore splits cleanly: some are Russian, some are ours, and some are neither.
Evidence
- The European airport incursions — Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Lithuania — carry the fingerprints of a classic Russian grey-zone operation.
- Luis Elizondo, in multiple interviews post-AATIP, has stressed that the conflation of Russian harassment drones with legitimate UAP sightings serves a specific bureaucratic purpose: it gives officials a plausible mundane explanation to invoke whenever congressional pressure peaks.
- David Grusch's 2023 sworn testimony before Congress asserted that the U.S. government holds material and biological evidence of non-human intelligence.
- The honest answer is a three-layer stack: Russian proxy harassment at the bottom, U.S. and allied black-program platforms in the middle, and a residual category — perhaps 10–20% of cases by Elizondo's own estimates — that fits no human-origin explanation at all.
- Western intelligence officials, per NBC News (Nov 2025) and BBC (Nov 2025), believe Moscow is using local proxies to launch commercial-grade short-range platforms, possibly from passing ships, to cause disruption without attribution.
