Open Veils · Answer
Sylvie Dethiollaz?
Dethiollaz represents one of Europe's most rigorous institutional bridges between hard science and anomalous consciousness research. A PhD in molecular biology, she founded the Noêsis association in 1999 and has led ISSNOE — a recognized public-utility foundation in Geneva — since its formation in 2012. Her work places her squarely in the tradition of Dean Radin and the IONS network, but operating from a distinctly European, French-language research axis that Anglophone audiences almost entirely miss.
Evidence
- According to ISSNOE's institutional record, Dethiollaz founded the Noêsis association in 1999 while still a doctoral student in molecular biology — an unusually early institutional commitment to what most of her field regarded as fringe territory.
- The merged entity, ISSNOE, focuses specifically on altered states of consciousness: near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, extrasensory perception, and related non-ordinary phenomena.
- In 2012, Noêsis merged with the Foundation Odier de Psycho-Physique, itself founded in 1992 by Marcel and Monique Odier, whose team included biologist Rémy Chauvin and physicist Olivier Costa de Beauregard — a lineage connecting Dethiollaz's project directly to mid-20th-century European psychophysics.
- As of October 2026, she continues as president and director of ISSNOE and was recently featured in a long-form interview with TheSwissBox Conversation, per her LinkedIn post.
