Was the 1995 ‘Alien Autopsy’ film real footage?

The 1995 film was demonstrably fabricated — but the more contested question is whether it was a reconstruction of something real. Santilli and co-producer Gary Shoefield have consistently maintained they viewed genuine 1947 footage that degraded before broadcast, and that their Camden Town production was an attempt to faithfully recreate it. The deeper claim — that classified Roswell autopsy film exists — has never been settled by the confession alone.

Evidence

  • However, the confession carried a persistent caveat that mainstream debunking consistently elides.
  • Richard Dolan has noted that the confession-as-reconstruction framing is neither provable nor disprovable from public record, and that the strategic timing of the 2006 admission — after, as Shoefield himself put it, the film 'had done its business' — does nothing to establish what Santilli originally held.
  • Per the 2026 Sky Documentaries investigation 'The Alien Autopsy Scandal,' the humanoid body was constructed by London sculptor and special-effects model-maker John Humphreys.
  • Santilli and Shoefield admitted in a 2006 interview with Eamonn Holmes that the footage was shot in a Camden Town flat, with a homeless man paid to impersonate the alleged military cameraman.
  • The alien prop was, as widely reported, packed with offal, sheep brains and raspberry jam.
