Open Veils · Answer
Which hypothesis has more evidence: Anunaki or lizard people?
On evidentiary weight, the Anunnaki hypothesis rests on a stronger archaeological substrate — genuine cuneiform texts, real Ubaid-period figurines, and serious philological debate. The reptilian/shapeshifter hypothesis draws almost entirely from modern interpretations of video compression artifacts and David Icke's synthesis. Neither hypothesis is proven, but one has ancient clay and written records behind it; the other has YouTube glitches.
Evidence
- Zecharia Sitchin built the modern Anunnaki hypothesis directly from Sumerian and Akkadian cuneiform — the Enuma Elish, the Atrahasis Epic, the Eridu Genesis — arguing these texts encode literal encounters with an extraterrestrial species he called the Nephilim-Anunnaki.
- The Ubaid lizard figurines — catalog items 122872 and 122873 in the British Museum — are genuinely reptiloid in morphology and predate the written Anunnaki attestations by roughly 2,000 years.
- David Icke's reptilian-hybrid hypothesis, elaborated in The Biggest Secret (1998) and Children of the Matrix, proposed that a bloodline of Draco-Reptilian beings occupies human power structures through genetic infiltration.
- The evidentiary asymmetry is clear: Sitchin's hypothesis can be argued wrong on philological grounds — and Michael Heiser spent a career doing exactly that — but it is argued against a real textual record.
- Whatever one thinks of his translations, the primary source material is physically real, housed in the British Museum and the University of Pennsylvania, and dated to 3rd–2nd millennium BCE.
